A Week of Family Dinners… No Pasta!

A Week of Family Dinners… No Pasta!

I have been meaning to do this for some time… Dinner and shopping for dinner has always been a source of stress for me. With a 5 and 6 year old, and a husband that eats very, very clean, I have always struggled to find resources for a weeks worth of healthy, family friendly meals. What I mean by that… a place with I can go and print out 5-6 meal suggestions with an easy to fulfill ingredients list. Really, there are tons of resources for healthy eating, even family friendly, healthy eating. But when I searched for a weeks worth of good, family meals, I was coming up short. I found awesome resources for make ahead meals, and even a weeks worth of dinners with ingredients lists… but the dishes always included casseroles and a lot of pastas. (which, to be clear, I love, but my hubs can’t go for casseroles–no, no. No can do. And my kids don’t like pasta–I know right, wtf?)

So, for the last year I have been collecting receipts on pinterest and developing the really good habit of planning out my dinners for the week, while trying to limit my time in the grocery store to 1-2 times per. The problem was, I was jotting the lists down a piece of paper and tossing them… having to recreate week after week. Dumb. Starting now, I am compiling the meals and ingredients here. I can jump on my phone anytime and get what I need… avoiding any unnecessary time in the grocery store. I am from Northern Virginia, where they have Wegmans… if you have been there you understand why its one of the things I miss the most about living up there. In Raleigh, they have Harris Teeter–it does the job 🙂 I mention it because I have customized my ingredients list specifically for a standard Harris Teeter layout… like I said, I will do anything to spend as little time in a grocery store as possible. Hope it may be as useful to you as it is to me!
